School chaplains support young people in one of today’s most high pressure environments – the schoolyard. Chaplains work in the prevention and support business: helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from friendship and peer issues to bullying, family breakdown, depression, anxiety and in-school behaviour. They provide social, emotional and spiritual support through one-on-one conversations, running group programs, and working with guidance officers and other support staff to curate wellbeing plans depending on the needs of the school. School chaplains are a friendly, approachable asset to a school community, and work with external agencies to meet the needs of our young people and their families.
