School chaplains
support young people in one of today’s most high pressure environments – the
schoolyard. Chaplains work in the prevention and support business: helping
students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from friendship and peer
issues to bullying, family breakdown, depression, anxiety and in-school
behaviour. They provide social, emotional and spiritual support through
one-on-one conversations, running group programs, and working with guidance
officers and other support staff to curate wellbeing plans depending on the
needs of the school. School chaplains are a friendly, approachable asset to a
school community, and work with external agencies to meet the needs of our
young people and their families.
Our school chaplain is Gailene Kaurila, and she can be contacted through the school.
